BONJOUR
Hello my friends. I just returned from an absolutely lovely time in Paris, so forgive me for the lack of brilliant posts over the past couple weeks. I'm in the process of compiling my photos and notes from the wonderful thrift shops, restaurants and historic spots we discovered during our trip. In the meantime, please enjoy this trailer for Woody Allen's latest venture, Midnight in Paris. I've been having a love affair with his films lately, so was thrilled to hear about this one, which debuted at Cannes just last week. Bisous!

TAIL OF A FAIRY
I can't wait to see this new film by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. Why?
1) I love most of the things he creates (minus his recent ice cream spots....they were...odd, to say the least).
2) I've been reading "The Beautiful Fall," an engaging account of Paris fashion from the 60's up to the present. Mr. Lagerfeld comes off as an extremely interesting person - very, very intelligent and prolific. I highly recommend this read for anyone interested in the rise of Yves Saint Laurent, Lagerfeld, and the move from Couture's supreme importance to the billion dollar success of the Ready to Wear industry.
3) Frejaaaaaaaa! I'm in love with Freja Beha. Everything about her is insanely beautiful.

BONEFLOWERS
As my loyal readers already know, i'm an avid thrift/vintage shopper. I try to find new spots just about every other weekend, so when I stumbled upon Boneflowers on Polk Street in San Francisco, I was pleasantly surprised to find this odd yet charming little whole in the wall. They have a great selection of both new and vintage finds including killer coats, sunglasses, vinyl and shoes. I especially love their number earrings (pictured above) but held myself back due to a strict saving-for-vacay budget. For me, to find a completely unique piece, whether it be clothing or a random spoon (whhaaat??), is much more thrilling at stores such as this one. Stay tuned for my Parisian thrift shopping experiences over the coming weeks!

MET GALA 2011

| Florence Welch in Yves Saint Laurent |
My top picks out of all the beautiful gowns at this year's Met Gala. This is probably my favorite fashion event of the year - in addition to the myriad chic and wildly fashion-forward ensembles of worldwide Fashion Weeks. I must admit that I actually have style crushes on Ashley, Diane and Florence (we're on a first name basis...ahhhhaha), so I typically find their sartorial choices a perfect fit for my views on how a woman should really dress. In regard to the not-so-special of this year's Met Gala, there were sparkles, bold colors and slits up to you-know-where, which in many instances came off as either boring, over-the-top or obnoxious - or all of the above. Luckily, these three women picked flattering silhouettes and simple cuts paired with the extreme WOW factor we expect from the Gala. Stunning!

ZEBRA
Came across this picture I took a while back at Gravel and Gold in the Mission. This zebra sweater is fantastic. I actually saw a fashionable man on the street today wearing a sweater will puppies all over it. Perhaps it's time for a little animal knit addition to my wardrobe?
